Frequently Asked Questions
What do I wear?
Whatever makes you feel most comfortable and allows for movement, including floor stetches. Most dancers wear some type of yoga or gym wear. We wear hip scarves as well, which can be crochet, coins, beads, and more. Be creative! My first hip scarf was a table shawl!
Am I too old/fat/thin/clumsy/etc?
The body you have is the body that belongs in my class. Plain and simple. Your body is capable of moving in beautiful, graceful ways without needing to adhere to superficially-imposed societal standards of beauty. My students range in age, size, and abilities. If you have a specific issue that needs attention (i.e. RA, social anxiety, injury) please let me know and I can work with you to find adjustments that suit your needs.
How do I sign up?
You can visit my Patreon page and select the "Camas" tier for studio classes, or the "Online Classes" option for online-only. You will be charged up front, and then at the start of every month. You can cancel at any time. If you want to try things out before committing, drop-in to a Wednesday night class for free or check out the online classes available to the public on my Patreon.
What do I bring?
Water, yoga mat, finger cymbals, hip scarf, snack, and any props you may need to help you during stretching. If you do not have finger cymbals or hip scarves, there are several in the studio for students to borrow. I recommend bringing a light snack to eat during our 5-minute break.
Where do I go?
The address is 228 NE 19th Ave, Camas WA 98607. I am on Google Maps! Please park on the street, walk through the breezeway to the well-lit back patio, through the back door with the studio sign, and down the flight of stairs. The studio entrance is separate from my main home and features foam-backed floors, a full wall of mirrors, seating area, kitchenette, fireplace, live plants, and walls adorned with art. It is a haven for creativity.
How much does it cost?
Drop-in rate is $20 for a 2-hour class. Monthly rate is $50 for unlimited studio and online classes, and is processed through Patreon. I consider the monthly rate to average out over a year, meaning some weeks we may not have class and some weeks we may have several classes.
What about Covid?
Covid-19 vaccination is required to enter the studio. Masks are optional. Touch surfaces are disinfected before every class, I run a HEPA filter 24/7 (whole house and a separate one just for the studio), and floors are swept, swiffered, vaccuumed, and mopped by my studio helper every class. I like a clean space!
